Hi kids
Hoping someone out there would be able to help me.
The Hornady Match grade dies use a bushing to give an adjustable neck tension.
My die came without a bushing. Anyone willing to pull their die apart and give me the OD diameter and the length of the bushing as well too?
I’ve already sorted the ID opening required. Unless someone knows where to find the 594311 in Canada.
Im also curious if the OD is the same for all the dies or do they step up for heavier calibres.
Thanks

I believe Forster are the only bushing dies that use a proprietary bushing. The Hornady dies should work with any brand of bushing from Redding, RCBS, Wilson etc. Just find the one you need from someone who has stock and you're gtg.

The thickness of the bushing you require depends on the thickness of your brass. I would load a round and using a micrometer measure the o.d of the neck. Then subtract .003” and that’s the size of bushing I would get. Most of the well known gun shops stock bushings.

I have the ID already figured out but I’ve yet to find a source for the specific bushing in Canada.

I’m just hesitant to use a different brand. The bushing “floats” in the die to stay concentric. If a different one has a smaller OD it could be eccentric enough to catch one edge of the case mouth and be a pain in the neck. Or if it’s too short slide up in the die and not size enough of the neck. The Forster ones look a fair bit different…

Forster is a unique form factor. The other main brands all use the same dimensions - as far as I can tell. You should be good to use any of the main brands: Whidden, Redding, Hornady, Short Action Custom, etc.

They all use Redding's dimensions since they're copies of the Type S. Except Forster, of course. I have a Short Action Customs bushing in an RCBS die and wouldn't hesitate to use another brand in it. The dimensions will not vary enough to cause tolerance stacking issues.
