Evening all:
Looking for some insights as I was priming some brass I have been piling up from various range days. I had bought some Hornady OTM in .308 a few weeks back and burned through it all hanging on to the brass to use as reloads.
This is the stuff here
http://www.hornady.com/store/308-WIN-155-GR-OTM-Match/
When I went to start priming the first of these rounds the primer would not go in and I didn't want to force it. I'm priming on my press and have never had this happen before, the press is a Lee turret press and yes I had the correct anvil in for seating the primer. It was going into the Federal brass I had with no issue at all. I'm new to the world of rifle reloading and take things very slow and the minute I have an issue I back away from it until I understand what's going on.
Is anyone familiar with this brass? Upon closer inspection the primer pocket on all of the Hornady rounds has what I would call a thin wall or steel band within the primer pocket, almost like a ring of brass around the edge of the primer pocket wall.
Is there perhaps a special primer for this type of brass?
I was priming with Federal Large Rifle "Match" primers.
Thanks for any insights you may have.
