Hornady Powder Measure Issues

Good day,

I am having an extremelt frustrating time with my hornady powder measure when loading 223 on my projector press.

The the amount of powder the measure is throwing continues to creep up as I load. For example; I started loading at 23.8gr of h335 and after about 15 rounds I was up to 25gr.

Everything is tight. I reset the powder measure twice but the same thing occured.

Any help would be appreciated.

Call Hornady, they are great with over phone help and parts' replacements if you need them.

I might do that. I just figured out that it has to do with the vibration of the press. If I am crimping and/or sizing it does it quite bad. If I am not it makes about a 0.5-0.8gr difference in the charge it throws. The powder must be settling as the press moves.

I hope these things aren't that finicky.

Does it have the same problem with any other powders?
My powder measure doesn't like the taste of H335, it
just spits it out all over the place. Fine with everything
else I have tried.

Ill give it a go with a different powder.

If it is like any other powder measure the vibration is probably packing the powder into the measuring compartment.

Same thing if you fill a case fast to the top then tap the sides with a pen/pencil/etc, the powder will settle quite a bit.

Ya powder type in a measure can be a problem, mine doesn`t like H4831 to coarse. The ball type of powders are great in a measure, something to look at when working up a new load if your doing large amounts of that cartridge.
