Just a quick FYI to all Hornady projector users

I just got off the phone with Customer service, as I was looking for a small spring for the primer feed unit at 1-800-338-3220 (ext 4) to see what I can still get for parts.

Since the press is over 25 years old and discontinued, I was contemplating the upgrade for $250 USD to the New Lock-n-Load AP. They told me for the $250 I would get a NEW LNL and powder measure shipped to my door in trade for my old one, but I thought I would check for parts first as everywhere I read they were saying that parts are now hard to come by.

To my surprise, I found out that the spring I needed was still available. Since I didn't want to spend $10 to ship a $1 part, I decided to check if others were available to defer shipping. So I checked my manual, and looked at the loose parts that would shut down my press if they broke or got lost and found that 14 of 15 parts were in stock. woohoo after placing the order it only cost me $40 USD total including shipping.

For those that have the pro7 or projector, they have a NEW primer system upgrade for $30 to replace the WHOLE priming system for $30 with primer tubers, primer pickup tubes and other items.

And the customer service was amazing and patient with me. :)

Yeah I know Dillon has a better parts availability, but not sure if they offer and press upgrade if you had a square deal to something newer.

Just nice to know after 30 years the support is still there.

had a similar dealing with customer service, my Projector was sometimes not aligning the primer with the case maybe 1 in 50, anyway called customer service and one option was to upgrade, great deal but had to ship my old press to them, anyway after a couple calls they had a tech have me sit by the press and make a few rounds giving him feedback what was happening, he figured it was a bent spiral pin in the base, they sent the new pins with instructions how to replace and works like a charm, must be 25 years and still pumps out 45s

madcow, what did you have for a list of parts that would be good to have on hand,

Only a few parts had to be replaced

#19 - 392409 - Case Retainer Spring
#49 - 392407 - Primer Arm Spring
#66 - 392449 - Brass Kicker arm return spring
#67 - 392454 - Brass Kicker Arm (replaced, no longer available)

spring are expected, as they are thin moving parts that wear and thin out

but I wasn't going to ship to get #49, and pay $10 shipping

So I thought what other parts I can get that would stop my press if it broke or got lost, I came up with the following;

#55 - 390035 - Large Primer punch
#56 - 390034 - Small Primer punch
#58 - 392401 - Small Primer Cup
#59 - 392402 - Large Primer cup
#60 - 392456 - Spring (A.F.P)

My biggest concern is the brass kicker arm, as it can easily be bent, but can't be replaced, the primer stuff can be fixed by the primer upgrade ($30), but is currently on their product list

I didn't want the new LnL AP, but nice to know I can upgrade anytime. I have mine doing everything automatically already now, but the brass insertion per pull
