Hornady SST Bullets

Anyone use these bullets in .30cal?

I was considering working up a load for my .308Win with 150's & 180's for an upcoming black bear / moose hunt so I'd appreciate some feedback.

I'm still fine tuning my load for the SST a bit more yet. I have the groupings at 1.5" at 100yds with my M305/M14 .308. I want to play with the load a bit more yet to see if i can close it up a bit.

150gr Hornady SST
41.2gr IMR4895
Winchester brass
CCI 200 LR primmers

Not sure what you are using for a rifle though.

I shoot them often, but have not taken any game with them. I prefer to use the Interbond version for heavier game. Should be fine on whitetail.

I will be loading these for either my Win Stealth II or my Rem 700P. I have been doing a little on-line reading and the common complaint is that the SST's hit like a b@stard and at close do a significant amount of damage.

I am hoping this is just a matter of proper shot placement rather than a heavy bullet that has the same effect on large game as a TNT grenade does on critters!

We found them fairly explosive if you hit anything solid with 100 yards. Similar to a Nosler ballistic tip. Ok for lung shots. Not .308 but we were using with .270 - 150gr. on Deer.

If you dont' hit the shoulder straight on you should be ok.
