Hornady SST, M14

Has anyone tried Hornady 150g SST 308 in their Norinco's? Accurate?

Thoughts for hunting with this bullet?

All i've ever reloaded are 155 and 168 Match pills. Probably not a good idea using these on deer.

That is what I shoot out of my Norc M14 and they are awesome. Some H335, winchester primers and 150 gr Hornady SST's and my Norc is happy.

The SST's are fine for hunting in a non-magnum Caliber. You may find them a little explosive if they hit bone at shorter distances....aim accordingly.

I use 165's SST's in my M14, and my rifle loves them. Bad news is I was buying them for $29.99 a box two years ago locally and now the're $44.99!

I use H 165 gr SST for deer hunting in my Norc... 43 gr of H4895, CCI 200 primers (hard), COL 2.817"... very accurate..

also loaded up a batch of H 150 gr SST with 40 gr of H4895.. also very accurate. the 150's print a bit higher on the target..

both loads group around 1 to 1.5" at 100yds and about 2.5 to 3 inches at 200yds.. and son on..

the 165 grains trajectory works out to +2.5" at 100 yds , 0 at 200, -10.5 at 300.

this load (165gr) killed 2 deer in the last 2 seasons.. good expansion and both dropped on the spot with no chasing or tracking required.. one at roughly 200 yds and the other at about 70 yds..

IMHO they work just as well as the $40/box plus factory stuff.
