Has anyone done any serious testing\ hunting with these slugs?
I picked up a couple boxes the other day and they look pretty awesome but I havent had a chance to try them yet.

They do look way cool. A friend picked up a few boxes and when i saw them i needed to know how they shot. He told me they wern't that good. Also if you shake em back and forth 90% of them rattle a little as the bullet is not tight in the sabbot. I didn't believe him so I opened every box he had and like i said, 90% would rattle to some extent.

I shoot sst slugs out of a savage 210 slug warrior if you consider 1.5'' groups @100yards not that good your friend must have a magic shotgun. None of mine rattle which would not matter any way as they will not rattle in the bore.

I shot 3 bucks last season with the sst slug the longest shot was 174 yards and the closest was 21 yards recovered all 3 bullets just under the skin on the opposite side of the entry hole. All 3 deer dropped within 5 yards of the impact. I also shoot the 300grn sst bullet in my 50 cal muzzle loader with equal results. With the savage 210 I can shoot 4'' groups at 200 yards that are only 6.4'' below the bull with no hold over, no other slug shoots that flat. The other bonus is that with the lighter bullet the recoil is a little less.

Thanks for the info. I did check my boxes of slugs and some of them are not seated as well as others. I will have to get to the range and see what they do.

Hey,

Put quite simply, Hornady rocks crotches - essentially they are like a kick to the pelvis. They made many leaps and bounds in ammunition and their slugs are no exception. Great ballistics, good bullet retention (almost 100% I believe) and they are much easier to get than Winchester's XP3 ballistic slug. Good job man.

We used these this season, my son and myself. Two shots two deer, in thier tracks. Awesome hitting power, when sighted in at 100 yards had a 1 inch group of three rounds half inch off bull at 1pm. They say two inch groups at 150 yards, from what I have seen I believe it.
