Hornady SST- Your Experience Hunting

140 SST's in a 6.5x55, used on deer out to about a hundred, most closer.
6 taken last year (Charlottes).
I can't say I recovered any but I didn't expect too and didn't look for them.
Accurate and it killed all the animals I used them on.
It worked fine for what I expected of it and I'll use it again but I wouldn't put it on an alter as other cheap bullets have done similar feats.

I have seen what the 180 gr SST does out of a 300WM at aprox 80 yards...mushroomed perfectly and put the animal down fast. bull elk went less than 10 yards. bullet was recovered on the far side just under the hide. there was a lead smear from the core but the copper jacket peeled back just like its supposed to. I don't have a problem spending $$$ on high end bullets to make sure what i shoot at is dead, but clearly this bullet does work and i wouldn't hesitate to use it myself on anything from deer to moose/elk. now if the shot had hit solid bone like shoulder ect...im not sure what it would do. I don't tend to take shots that I'm not confident on my ability to put in the numbers so from what i have seen, i think its a pretty good round and ill reload it into my 300WM.
