Tested some with the chrono the other day, 3465 fps on the box 3600 fps out of 23.7” barrel. 3300 FPS out of 18.5” barrel. 3 Celsius the other day.

Usually Hornady ammo falls way short of box advertised fps.

Interesting, what have others found with their testing.

What cartridge ? 22-250 Or 🤷‍♂️
Hornady only makes Varmint Express in 53 gr for 22-250

technically they offer it in 50gr Vmax (item 8336) & 55gr Vmax (8337), years ago they also did 40gr Vmax
They don’t have a Superformance 53gr Vmax load…only Varmint Express 53gr Vmax in 22-250. They may offer other superformance or varmint express loads. I am not concerned with other projectiles. Comparing apples to apples. Lighter projectiles should move faster in both. Comparing velocity of a 40 gr to 53 gr isn’t necessarily fair in my mind.

I shoot Superformance 53gr V-Max in my 223 .... (also 55gr Varmint Express).

The subject heading is:

Hornady Superformance 53 gr Vmax 223

Well, thats what I also have shot lol
Getting just under 3000fps in the 16" Bison ...

2950fps avg in the Celic with 55gr Varmit Express
