I am reloading Hornady Swaged 158gr LSWC bullets to be used in a 38spl/357mag Rifle both my Rossi Ranchhand 12in barrel and Rossi M92 16in barrel. I have IMR4227, 2400 and now Unique as I thought the 1st two powders would up the velocity to high to cause excessive barrel leading. I have the reloading data for Unique out of the Hornady book for the exact bullets being used. Question has anybody used the other two powders and had leading issues. I have found load data for both IMR4227 and 2400 looking under LSWC 158gr bullets. I will be using mostly 38spl and 357mag sometimes and know to check and clean the chamber after shooting a lot of 38spl before shooting 357mag. I am only target shooting AR500 hanging plates as well as my homemade shooting tree. Any comments appreciated as I have found a lot of similar questions on the web but mostly for pistols and I am using rifles. My next purchase will be a chronograph.

Hornady Swaged lead bullets are soft and have a dry graphite coating on them, good for low velocity rounds in handguns, however 16 inches of barrel is a lot to ask of that lube.

You would be better off getting some hard cast bullets with a proper lube groove filled with a good Alox/beeswax or carnauba based lube for shooting in a rifle.
