Well despite all the bad things said about ultrasonics here I picked one up at Epps a few weeks back. I was a bit remiss in cleaning my DE in 44 mag and was dreading cleaning it (it carbon fouls like crazy even after only 100 rounds). So I mixed up some 50/50 vinegar and water solution and stripped it down and ran the parts through the ultrasonic. Took about 30 min to get them all through a few cycles (detail stripped the entire top end). While it didn't completely get it all clean (left a slight film on the parts that was easily wiped away with some hoppes 9) it saved my about an hour of elbow grease in cleaning. I was very happy with it's performance. I can see where the shiny brass crowd would be less than thrilled with the unit, however it is a godsend for small parts and does a respectable job on the brass as well.

I think ultrasonic cleaners are amazing and do a fantastic job at cleaning parts and brass, thoroughly. Highly recommend them!

I'm planning on buying a 15 litre ultrasonic cleaner in the near future.

I have a table top Ultrasonic cleaner that I bought for brass, and I cleaned a few handguns in it using Ultrasonic Cleaning Solution #083-000-031 and the Ultrasonic Gun Oil #083-000-032 from Brownells. It did such a good job I bought a large ultra-sonic cleaner from Crest and threw myself into the commercial gun cleaning business.
