I'm just getting started into reloading and was wondering if there's much difference in brass quality or case capacity between these two brands. I'm looking for 257 weatherby brass and the price difference between 50 pieces of hornady brass and 50 nosler brass (which is made by Norma I believe) is close to $50. I know you can size 7mm rem brass into 257 weatherby but seeing as this is my first kick at the cat I want to stick to factory brass for now. So is it really worth the extra $$ ?
Thanks

Have you looked at Weatherby brass? Not sure if they actually manufacture their own brass or not.
I love Norma brass for my 6.5x55's, but I always try to find once fired because it's frightfully expensive new, if you can even find some.

Yes Norma does make Weatherby brass. But don't be afraid to try Hornady brass. I've used it in several calibers and find it very decent in quality. I have also used Weatherby/Norma brass as well and find it to be the best i've ever used. The draw back is the price, espically compared to Hornady.

For the .257 Weatherby the best way to get Weatherby (by Norma) brass is to just buy the cheapest Spire point factory ammo. As often as not its cheaper than the empty brass, and when it isn't its awful close. It even comes with some powder, bullets and primers which you can either deduct from the cost or just shoot and conclude that the brass was free.

Cabellas usually has it for about 55 a box,and they aren't that hard to beat. You don't need a 1000 of them.

I bought some Norma 300 wsm brass. I don't know how long the case life is yet because I just got it. I was very disappointed with its variations in weight though. Over 3 grains out in a small sample. Nothing like my lapua brass in other calibres or even my federal stuff.
