Horrible service from Solely regarding Reference number

I bought 4 handguns during the frenzy.
I asked for all 4 reference numbers from the retailers and got them.
The next day I emailed the Quebec CFO with all 4 reference numbers, my RPAL, and my range membership in a very polite and formal email explaining I was available for any further questions they may have.

All 4 transfers got finalized within ONE hour of them getting that email. This was in June when the freeze was announced and CFOs were getting thousands upon thousands of transfer requests.

I told another buyer to do the same and she got the same result, same day transfer approval. And no, its not mere luck.

So while you may not know what to do with them (up until now I guess)...reference numbers for store purchases are most definitely not useless.

Agree 100% with this, provincial CFO's are approving transfers with the REF # way faster if you talk to them on the phone than letting it run its natural course. Had 4 approved while on the phone, people who say the REF # is pointless dont seem to understand its value.

When I asked solely for it, they asked "why do I need it."

Because I rather have it then wish I did... I want to know my number in line, I want to make sure my transfer is initiated

Horrible customer service, especially when their manage started yelling at me. Very unprofessional

Hello, why is you customer service so bad?
I bought a shadow 2 one week ago, I've been calling for my reference number to make sure the transfer has gone through. One of your store members have been very rude over the phone. Yelling, and saying they're busy. Told me it's in to bottom of the safe and I won't get it.

You guys say you're "very busy" but I've bought 12 hand guns and you're the only store that won't give me my reference number.
I walked into east hill a d they showed me BOTH my guns that were in the safe.

My sister's fiancé bought it the same time and you told him that the transfer has not been initiated.
So I have no idea what's going on, and looks like you don't care after taking the customers money.

Different retailer, but still have no transfer # from a June 16th purchase.

A lot of store may not be sending them out because people are using them to pester the CFO's.

That is true, however the whole point (at least for me) of buying from a retailer is the fact, that I don't have to spend hours upon hours of my personal time, waiting for some government clown to pick up the phone.

When I hear of people spending their whole days on hold or coming up with all kinds of desperate spoofing schemes, it literally makes my head spin.

I've got every reference number, 11 diffrent retailer's
Nice, 11, I only got 2 :( so far.

B4 all this 'Frenzy etc. buying, if you bought 3 (or more) Restricted at once, or very close together, you would get FLAGGED in the system, & be contacted by an agent to explain yourself...lol Silly, but true.
(I sold/traded 3 pistols to ONE guy, an instructor at that, & it got flagged, on his end, he got a call to Explain 'Why in the World' he is buying 3 at once! Ohh -The Nerve! )

Imagine, if they are still doing this bs 'Flagging' for multiple purchases, in these times... I can't imagine they are, allot of people have bought allot more then 3 Restricted these past few months.... even Libt@rds, eventually get it.

Is there a form to reference? I've never tried by email.

Reference numbers definitely help the process. It's literally part of the process, like tracking shipping.

You are wrong. The dealer online RCMP system is not for the buyer. The buyer is not entitle to a reference number. The only thing you get is an invoice. The RCMP system is for dealers not Joe buyer. They do not have not provide buyer with a reference number. The reference number is for transaction between private parties. Nothing more.

That frenzy to obtain a dealer reference number is nonsense. The buyer and OP have absolutely no right to complain about something the dealer do not have to provide at all.

Thinking that calling and clutters phone line will go faster is just again stupidity. The RCMP got out a written statement saying they proceed in the order received.

So stop complaining about dealer reference number. It’s not needed and the buyer have no right to even ask for it.
If you think otherwise, find it in the regs and publish it, or shut up.

You are wrong sir...! Under normal circumstances, the only difference wrt reference numbers is that buyer doesn't need to do anything with the reference number, so it used to be pretty much useless... RCMPs software still generates a transfer number within the same database as individual-to-individual transactions. As the buyer, you can still use it to call in RCMP if there is hold-up on the transfer.

Nowadays, if you have a reference number and you may have the means to contact your CFO, one may get their transfer completed very quickly, instead of waiting 8 -10 weeks...

You can call the CFC and ask for all your Pending transfers and the numbers.

It's really not a big deal.

This is YMMV I think. I tried to call Ontario CFO, and could not get through and could not wait around for someone to answer. I got "we are busy please call back next time".

It would make sense for stores to record the transfer # which I am sure they do this, and attach it to the order and either send it automatically to buyers, or have it ready on their system in case customers inquire for it.

On 2 R's I purchased in June, 2 different stores {CGN Sponsors} I got one Reference # same day, the other the next day.

They have a Message center on their website, use it. I got my ref number back from Solely in less then a day when I posted a request there.
