System is overated, still has lot glitches & a bit too ahead of its time in a way...Heard a lot complaints from south of the border for this i.e. too gadgety...In a couple years & more user friendly version should appear...It'll kick ass!
I have been re-evaluating my choice of reticle design lately..... after digging into it a little more I think I am going to use the PCMOA reticle that US Optics offers. It is actually not an MOA reticle. It is actually an inch per hundred yards reticle (IPHY).
I have an SN-3 MOA reticle scope that resides on my my 7mm WSM. I agree with all your points for sure. You can't go wrong with that system either.
Inch MOA is also referred to as "Shooters MOA". 1.047" MOA is often called TRUE MOA. Examples: OSU uses the former, NF the latter. Here is a diagram showing the USO MOA reticle and relationship to various powers of variable.
USO knobs are also calibrated in Shooters MOA. Main thing in my opinion is to have units of knob and reticle the same. This way if you measure offset of 20.5 moa, you can dial that into your scope very easily without doing the math. This has always be a benefit the Europeans had with MIL reticles and .1 mil clicks. Having .25 or .5 moa knobs and MOA reticle provides english system shooters with the same benefit. Note that the .5 moa/90 click EREK that USO has will get the .308 to 1000 yards with one turn and no sloped rail.
