i have been redoing my rifles with the cold blueing products, but let's face it that stuff takes longer to apply then it lasts! It is crap and i have tried all of them, they don't hold up and protect the steel from rust at all.
So since i am in the process of refurbishing a few guns i think i am going to buy some hot blue tanks and salts, etc and set it up in my shop to do my own.
Any of you guys do your own hot blueing?

You might want to look into slow rust bluing.

Advantages
- inexpensive. No major purchses.
- the blue generally stands up better than hot blue.
- very nice looking
- can be done without specialized equipment
- safer to the operator. No 300 degree chemicals.

Disadvantages
- time consuming but still quicker if you consider the set-up time for the hot blue equipment
- finding the rust bluing chemical. I got mine from Luckyguy from this forum. He also supplieds instructions.

Brownells has one product that they will ship to Canada.I haven't tried it yet.
