anyone had luck just swapping projectiles between the hot cor and the grand slam of same weights?
are they same shape or different?
shoot the same or not?
The GS bullets have a different type of jacket than the HC.
You can use the same powder/primer/case; if you're lucky, velocities and consistent accuracy will be very close.
Your point of impact will be different of course but if you're going to be shooting from the same rifle, a small adjustment to the optics should easily be able to correct this.
Just remember, HC bullets, albeit very good for cup and core-type bullets, are not as heavily constructed as Grand Slam projectiles.
GS bullets have graduated jacket thickness with segmented petals at the nose. They both have a "bonded core" as the lead core is "poured" rather than swaged into the jacket.
I have one rifle, 7-08, where the two grades of bullets can be interchanged, with the same powder charge/primer/bullet weight/case and I have to adjust the scope turrets 3 clicks R and 2 clicks Up, when switching from HC to GS.
The other, a 7x57 Mauser, needs to be range checked between cross-overs.
