Anyone else here cook game on a Japanese hot rock? We've developed some great marinades and sauces. It makes for a full evening cooking this way but what a better way to spend time with friends and enjoy some fine wine. Here's a selection of pheasant, elk, bighorn sheep, scallops and shrimp.

Ya we also do this type of cooking. Did You make that yourself or did you buy it? I know a guy who owns a granite counter top place and got a piece off of him. We put it on the BBQ for about an hour before we use it. How about you? We first found this out in Banff and liked it so much we had to try it.

Also I have been trying to find sauces for dipping but have had no luck, I was wondering if you would like to share some of yours. Thanks very much

Got it as a Christmas present. We pre-heat it the oven and then use burners underneath it to keep it hot. We just bought a variety of Oriental sauces from Superstore and played with mixing them. Also Mayo and curry is awesome.

I was first introduced to hot rock cooking at a little tapas place. They brought these stones (looked like sharpening stones) out and we cooked little bits of eafood, poultry and meat. Since then I've done it a few times, even cooking salmon and prawns on a seaside campfire!:D

We've found that the marinades are the key and often marinade red meat for 5-6 days prior to eating and seafood for a day or two. No real recipies, just grab stuff from the fridge but the shrimp were awsome with tequilla and lime juice. The red meats are great with soya sauce, red wine vinegar, maybe a bit of burbon. We never write them down. That way it's new every time.
