I have seen several posts where people are stating that brand x is hotter than brand y. I can get most of the "hottest" brands at my local CT store (no local gun shops) but only in small boxes.
What I want to know is what the hottest .22LR is in the bulk box sizes.
I am going to Winnipeg and want to buy up a bulk supply.
These loads are to cycle semi-auto handguns. My Federal stuff won't cycle a Sig Mosquito worth a darn.
Thanks for any help,
Glen

You can get anything in "bulk". Do you mean loose packed stuff? Do you have a price point in mind?

CCI mini mags seem to work really well in fussy semi's (which by all accounts the mosquito is the worst). You can buy them in sleeves or cases. Probably by the pallet if you really wanted to.

Thanks for the tips guys.
By bulk I mean boxes of 500 or so. The Fedeal stuff I have will cycle in my Mossberg Plinkster but is crap in handguns.
Just looking to buy some quality stuff in boxes bigger than 50.
Thanks again,
Glen

in the bulk form i have found the thousands of shells thru my guns that Winchester 555s proved the least ftf/ fte ammo i tested. and most guns i have really like them, both bolt and semi. should prove great in cycling a handgun

Another vote for blazers. Work great in all my rifles and handguns including a walther p22. $20 for 525 bulk box or $22 for 500 rd brick in nic 50 rd boxes with a plastic tray to keep the sepparate.

The hottest .22lr available is probably the CCI Stinger. It utilizes a smaller bullet and a slightly elongated case to give phenomenal velocity. It cycles extremely well in everything I've ever fed it though but your firearm must support hypervelocity ammo - most do but I have at least one (Henry US Survival Rifle) that specifically recommend against hypervelocity ammo. It's pricier than most other .22LR but you can get it in 50rd boxes or 500rd bricks.

another vote for the Win 555/333 ammo. Under $20 for 555 rds at Walmart. Stocked up with over 20,000 rounds a couple summers ago. Still have a few to go...:D

I like the federal 525 boxes. I have shot 6 or 8 boxes in the last year or two and they feed and fire great in my 10-22 and bolt action .22

They also mushroom well, nearly doubling in diameter.

They are my go to .22 round...

Winchester Xpert 555 and 333 produce a sonic "crack" out of all my rifles. Other cheapie bulk brands/types do not.

So I'd say they are the hottest bulk ammo commonly available. They have proven to be quite reliable as far as failure to feed and fire and eject as well. Groupings are slightly bigger than Dynapoints at 100 meters, but not by enough to turn me off 555s and 333s.

Thanks for all the great info folks.
As soon as I can I will get some CCI and Winchester ammo.
I think my Norinco Woodsman will be okay with anything, but the Sig .22 conversion on my NP22 will probably be a whole lot more reliable with those mentioned above.
Thanks again,
Glen

When you bought the mosquito it came with a second spring. This is much lighter and with it in my mosquito it eats federal and winchester bulk boxes not problem except for very cold winter days...

I use Winchester 555s and they work great in my CZ 452 and my GSG 1911. The only other bulk pack I'll buy is the blazers.

Strange how different guns like different ammo.Winchester ammo works like crap in my GSG.It's absolutely unuseable in mine.I have to manually rack the slide with winchester but Federal cycles it ok.My Buckmark will work fine with Winchester until it gets cold out and then I start getting a lot of failure to fire and stovepipes.I shoot Federal blue box out of it when it's cold out,no issues.
