Hougue Forearms For 870.Worth it?

Heck yes. OHHHH yes. I've owned a TON of 870's, and never thought it would be that great. Then I got one in a trade, and put it on my 870P. Made it WAAAAY more comfortable (for me) and very grippy, but not sticky.
Well worth the $30 or so.

I do have my one 870 with the synthetic stock and the surefire forend, but my 14" (my personal fave) and the 12 1/2 both have the police stock set. Wood has a nice feel to it and with a nice oil finish looks great.

theyre OK, i have two full sets.
i like the Hogue stocks mainly for the stock grip shape/ergonomics, the whole rubber overmolded aspect is a bit overrated, IMHO: in terms of grippiness, i barely notice the difference between it and a regular synthetic stock of decent quality.
if i had an 870 with a wood stock i had to replace (cracked, poor condition or too GOOD condition to slug through the mud), Hogue would be near the top of my list for a synthetic stock to replace it with.
...but if i already had a decent synthetic stock, would i ditch it to replace it with a Hogue? meh, barely worth it IMO.
the Fab Defense forends are worth upgrading to, however - simply for the added utility.

I like mine. The only drawback was the forestock initially rubbing against the barrel. After tightening the nut a couple of times it's now secure. The Hogue stock sets are an improvement on the factory stock. Lower recoil and improved grip particularly in wet weather. It's also a bit shorter than my wingshooting/target guns which is I prefer in a slug gun.

perhaps less felt recoil than the old Remmy factory stocks with hockey-puck recoil pads.
certainly not less felt recoil than the new Remmy stocks fitted with R3/Supercell pads.
Individuals perceive recoil differently. I've fired an 870 with the R3 and prefer the Hogue. There is more to recoil reduction than just a squishy recoil pad. YMMV.
I don't like the Hogue forend as much as the Speedfeed forend (comes with the 870 Police models and some others). It is the shortest and IMO fits the nicest in your hand and looks the cleanest.
I have the GG&G forend. It's a Speedfeed forend which they modified with a small picatinny rail for mounting a light onto.
