We closed for the morning. Someone is on the way to the shop now. The dog was kind enough to eat a alot of gravel and we took it to the vet.
On that note, has anyone ever had a dog that likes to eat gravel and any ideas how to stop it?

Ahhh thanks Ryan, was just werided out by it, every other time I have called always got picked up first ring. Sorry bout the dog. A long time ago one of our dogs had this issue, when we took him to the vet they discovered he had worms, and dogs sometimes do this as a way of "treating" the issue, like but dragging and licking. Also can be a sign of pica. Or more then likely there is just something thats on the gravel that is tasty and he/she wants to eat it. May grab a jar of tobasco and spray some in the mouth the next time he/she tries to do it again?
My dog did the same thing until the day I went outside to let him crap.... turd was stuck halfway out, poor little bugger couldnt pass it, salivating at the mouth, withering in pain. Rushed him to the emergency room, between the xrays and enema I had a 1500 dollar bill. I just kept him on a super short leash there after. About 6-7 " from his collar until he was a little older when her grew outta it.(most dogs do grow out of it). get a choke chain(sorry for all you yuppies) and every time he goes for it give it a good jerk, make it quick and fast the idea isn't to hurt him its to startle him.

Actually most of the strike fires went out last week and the last onces are going out tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about the dog , i caught this episode on the animal planet channel about dog doing this and it was because the grease from the grease can on the guys barbecue was dripping onto the rocks making them seem edible ..
If i remember correctly they washed it off then added some sort of spice / tobasco which didnt change the behavior , finally they had to keep a constant eye on him and he finally out grew the phase .
