How accurate is this spring gauge?

I'm wondering how far I can trust it. It's telling me my Ruger Mk.1 has a trigger pull of 1.5 lbs, but I'm not experienced in estimating pull weights. I always did like the trigger on this one though, so maybe it's bang on. Are there better gauges?

You need to get it calibrated if you think it's wrong. It may be bang on, it may be out to lunch.
I know my Ruger Mklll is way more than 1.5lbs.

Take something that is a known weight and pick it up off the table about an inch or so with the scale. That should tell you if it is close or not.

Looks like the same one we use in the Wpns Tech tool box in the Military. If this is the case, I'ld definitely check it against a known accurate weight. They never were really accurate.....

A gallon milk jug, a cup measure, and some water are all you really need to calibrate it.

You could also use one of those odd 4 liter sized ones

The nice thing about a gallon plastic jug is that it will get you up to 8 (or 10) pound range. That will calibrate most of the useful span of a trigger gauge.

An Imperial gallon of water weighs 10 pounds. I'd be inclined to put that guage back in the museum though.

I'll try to test it with known weights- duh! shoulda thought of that myself, lol.
Gunasaurus, it is military issue- somewhere I ran across it in a book, or online recently, and it was shown being used to check the weights of various Lee-Enfield springs/weights... I'll post that if I find it.
