How are the very newest Model 60 Marlins? 336 and some other models have dismal Quality control, according to many reports since Remington take over. I am curious how the Model 60 Marlingtons (or Remlins) are these days? I was checking the price on them and they can't be beat on price alone.
Any new owners have some comments?
Thanks.

Mine is a post-Remington buy before I knew to be wary of the dreaded Remlin.

I didn't know there was a Remlin bug until I started to read about it; the little 60 is a tack driver out to 50 yards and deadly lethal out to 100. A bit finicky on the ammunition; really doesn't like cycling Winchester bulk packs, but is very happy with Federals. I figure I got more than my money's worth for it.

Makes 10/22 people unhappy :D

I'd say they are pretty safe from the Remlin issues that plague the new 336s.

Beside Bass Pro, does anyone know who else carries the stainless steel model 60s in Ontario? I saw somewhere stainless steel rifle with bluish laminated stock. Pretty nice.

I bought my marlin 60 last year and love it./ I followed rimfirecentral to mod the trigger for a nice 3lb pull. as for accuracy I did an ammo test on the weekend. first time since I bought it. It has always shot win 333 or 555 good but knew it could be better. I am waiting for a good day to shoot out to 50 and 100 yards. check sail, they may have the stainless model

You mean like this one bought 2 months ago? Sorry not from Ontario but rather Wholesale Sports in Winnipeg.

Made by Marlin in North Haven, CT.

It's a nice "lower priced" accurate shooting gun which cycles without a hitch using cheapo ammo.

That's a pretty one. Congrats. I saw one with a blue laminated stock. Very groovy. Yeah, I am asking about Ontario dealers as shipping from farther out is a bit impractical at the moment.

Thanks for the comments, everybody.

I got the exact same gun last year from WSS for $299 and I love it. So far no hiccups with any ammo I use and quite accurate.

I have a 795ss that is deadly accurate and has killed it's fair share of gophers. The price was right too.. Free! I won it. they are very nice little gun. I also just scooped up an awesome deal on the EE for a remington 597 so it'll be fun to see if they fight each other in the safe! Remlins...

Got a brand new Marlin 60SN recently and lovin every moment she is being shot. Had an older 60 (vintage 1980) and it seemed to be pickier on the ammo. The newer model now have the last shot bolt open which makes overall use & cleaning much friendlier. Using bulk Federals (not a single jam yet), have been using open sights and 100 mtrs. is easily an achievable 3" group. A scope on this Marlin should tighten this much further (especially if the ammo is upgraded - say, CCI Mini mags or the like).
Wanted to get a 60SS last December, but there was none left in the country (last one most probably taken by the lucky guy - Target _ who put up a picture in the preceding post). Gotta admit, they look terrific. That being said, I did get a bolt action Marlin 980 S and the stainless steel does make it look triple the value of what it sold for. The gun looks and feels substantial. IMO Marlins today (in .22LR's at the least) haven't lost anything in terms of functionality. They remain affordable, accurate and reliable.

They might breed; who knows what bastard inbred abomination they could produce...
