How Are The Dominion Arms Grizzly Shotgun 12.5s

The red dot was a Millet Sp2 I got off the EE for like $70. I sold it because it mounts a little too high, kinda regret it. One day I'll pick up a C-More after seeing one at the range. The red dot just barely touched the ghost ring sight

The base came with the shotgun. Canada Ammo did not know about them until they showed up so bonus for us. It did not come with screws though, very hard to fund them as well.

The sling mount is from GP tactical, allthough you can find them almost anywhere. BadBoyBeeson comes to mind. I like this sling set up ever since basic with my C7; great for wandering around with and tucking it under your shoulder. The sling is a military surplus C7 sling. Can't remember where I found it.

The shell holder I got off the EE for really cheap and I've seen them in local gun stores and WSS. Its plastic, about $35, Tapco I think, can't remember. Works like a charm; wouldn't consider the more expensive Mesa ones anymore unless I wanted an 8 shot.

Love mine. I put a Hogue 12" LOP stock and grip on it, and since this photo I also put a recoil pad and one of those stretch shell holders on the stock. I bought mine for hiking and stuff and have no complaitns so far.

The synthetic stock is really heavy and solid. I'm not sure how it compares to the next shotgun but It feels very sturdy. I'd only replace it with another in order to cut down the weight.

How are the black plastic stocked ones?

Saw one at Corlanes in Dawson Creek. Didn't ask to see it because I wasn't serious about that one. Kinda wished I did. Stock looked "iffy" to me. Cheap plasticky kind of thing.

Realize the over all price of gun. Maybe hold out for the wood ones?

I fondled the ghost ring model at Corlane's, the stocks feel very sturdy. Seems like on tough SOB of a shotgun, given the reviews by others on here.

So you're saying the screws that come already screwed into the top of the gun won't work with the rail?

If so do you mind telling me what screws you used?

I just ordered mine, can't wait to get it.

I've got several hundred rounds through my plain barrel with simple bead sight (no choke) grizzly 12.5, no problems at all. For the $269 (plus tax) I paid NEW from Canada Ammo when they first hit our shores, I'd have to say its a heck of a deal!!!

Cheers

Really craving getting a dominon short shotgun for easy bush carry, 12.5". Are they really that much more convienent and easy to carry/pack than the 18.5" that I already have? An 8.5" seems cool but having only 2 shots in the mag seems of questionable usefulness. any thoughts or experiences to share?

i have a 8.5, it holds 3 in the tube after trimming/discarding the spring tube, it's nice to pack, i have back scaboard for hiking that fits nice on the front of the quad too!
stripped mine down and polished up all the bits that slide together, that smoothed the action some, you'll be suprised of the weight of it!
the shorter barrel lenth combined whith the fixed stock allows for quick draw/target aquisition(the stock giving the accuracy)
i like mine!

For me the 12.5 seems a lot more practical to carry compared to the 18.5. It fits snug in the pack and is easy to walk through the bush with. I wouldn't worry about the 8.5 only having 3 shots either to be honest. If you're ever charged by a bear you'll be lucky to get 1 or 2 shots off at the most anyway.

Sounds interesting, did you get rid of half the spring or more? It didn't affect the consistency of feeding shells into the chamber? Still have to research a bit more but a lot of other guys seem to love their 8.5s too, might be worth the extra 100 bucks to get something truly different. Im thinking that a 12.5 will not be a whole lot more convienent than my current 18.5.
