How Are The Rugers?

Ruger has focused on the hunting crowd and their aftermarket support reflects this. They sell ALOT of rifles and if asked in the Hunting forum, you will get lots of response.

BUT, the stuff we want for a precision rifle is not readily available so we pass it by.

I have a Ruger 77 Mk II, varmint/target model in .308, all stainless, laminated stock, adjustable trigger, all stock. I can show you targets with 3 shot groups that I can completely cover with a dime. The limitations are the scope on it and me, but as Mysticplayer has said above, there are no "tactical" or target accessories available for them.

I'm happy with it and it is a gorgeous rifle.

I had the 3 of same rifles chambered in 243 Win 220 swift and 6mm PPC without a doubt 3 of the most accurate factory rifles I ever owned (and there have been lots) Apart from those three guns all other Rugers have been sort of ho hum. Mind you I have rebarreled a number of 77's that shot great with new tubes in place.

I've had this pic in my comp for a while, I guess it's a shooter :)

#1 .204 Wasp, Kreiger barrel 11" twist, Kepplinger set trigger, replaced the 6-18 Burris with 6.5-20 X 40 Leupold today, PTG reamer from my design, necked down .219 Wasp with .250 long .232 dia neck

I don't know bout the LC6, but I found out how to 'adjust' the M II trigger, with a couple file strokes and some 600 and 1000 grit paper. Can't believe I lived with the pos like that for so long, it really was a very poor set up. Went from 6 3/4lbs and some .040" creep, to 3 lbs and .015. Made a awesome difference.
