How are you mounting your 858 weapons light??

newb question... fellow cz858 owner(non restricted) with every tacticool part i could find minus a light, i dont usually shoot at night. What is the pupose of mounting a light? Is it just another nice accessory? Asking seriously as ive never understood lights on guns. thanks

To see stuff at night:p

Some of us shoot at night, either on the range or pest control. Its dark 50% of the time, why limit when you can go shooting ;)

factionrr:

A good quesiton.

My training regiment includes both presonal time and Fomal courses on the range. Keep in mind that "the range" could be both outdoor, OR indoor as well.

Some of that training includes low light training, and it is my opinon that every carbine/shotgun and in some cases pistol use for combative training purposes should have a quality flashlight on it. It is also my contention that a weapons light, should be augmented with a good compact hand held as well, stored conveininely on ones belt. It goes with that "one is none, and two is one" concept.

Further, in low light training, you would not belive how important it is, at least in my mind, to have a very effective flash hidder.

However I digress. Back on point.

The challange with the 858 platform is to find the opitmal mount/place for it, hence my post here.

Hope that now makes sense.

308smk , who stocks the Vltor QD Offset mount ? Thanks .
I've been looking for a Vltor offset mount as well. Armtac does deal with Vltor, but they said no flashlight mounts in their first shipment. Maybe we could plead with them to stock the mounts and do a group buy?

For some reason they are classified as "export restricted" on most US retailers sites, but I believe that is Vltors doing not the US DoS. As such, I procured a couple from a private seller off another forum who helped me out.

Armtac definitely needs to put in an order for a bunch, the NEA mount+vltor offset is the best way to mount a light on the VZ as of right now. Also, in order to work with the 3slot design of the NEA mount, they need to be the QD lever models.

I also plan to mount a light onto my CZ-858 with NEA upper handguard and FAB lower handguard.

This dual offset 20mm side rail will go onto NEA upper

and then I plan to mount off set tactical weapon mount onto it

Will this combination work? What are your opinions?

Speaking from experience, I'll tell you that you need to be careful that the edge of the light mount doesn't occlude the useable area of the RDS too much. I happened to get lucky, but you should find out how wide the offset rail mount is, and then how wide the mounting bracket of the light mount is. For your suggested parts specifically, I'd be concerned about the knob on the light mount sticking right into the middle of the RDS.

I agree with Altas, it looks like you will have issues with that setup. I would try something a little more low profile like this if you are set on mounting it to the top rail.

from brownellls.

What I would suggest is pick up a normal weaver scope ring and a small 2 or 3 inch segment of rail and mount it to the lower hand guard. You can get theses rail pieces for $10 to $15.

Check out mounting solutions plus they have tons of mounting options and are good to deal with.

Possibly stupid question, but I am thinking about mounting my Fenix light to my CSA VZ-58 and using a Fenix remote pressure switch:

How do I fasten the pressure switch to my handguard/side rail without resorting to bubba-ing it?

Thanks

I've used the barrel clamp and a 1" Weaver ring and a NCStar offset 1" ring on the side rail of an NEA lower. Both work well.
