Hello,

I would like to get flip up BUIS for my rifle... This would be a no brainer if good sights wouldnt cost around 150-200 which is too much. I dont like iron sights to begin with but feel they need to be on the rifle for completeness...

It seems that NC Star red dot sights are getting torn apart, but what about their iron sights? They are about $20, what can one expect? Is it DOA crap?

I dont want to buy twice but figure it would be reall yhard to mess up BUIS that are hardly ever used ...

Cheers

Teac

P.S.

I cant get the search to work :(

I have a couple of sets that I have been switching back and forth on different guns for a few years now. They are fine and work just as well as the high priced items. It is money well spent. If you don't look at the markings, you can't tell the difference.

I think the mot important thing to note is how will the product be used. For NC Star scopes and irons, do you need to depend your life on their ability to keep zero, reproduce zero, have accurate adjustments? Chances are no for most questions and most users.

Unless used as part of their job or perhaps serious competitors, most here aren't banging their boomsticks on the ground, against walls, thrown on trucks, etc. That said, the BUIS is less likely to lose zero. Than again, if just hitting paper for fun, do you need a BUIS?

I dare say, a lot of people buy kit for the LCF, be it Aimpoints reddots or Troy BUIS.

Magpul plastic BUIS are around the same price point.

I'm with Winz...
Back Up Iron Sights are....well, for backup. Meaning if you primary fails you go to your BUIS until you can get your Primary working again.
I'd be spending more money on a better set(eg Troy's, etc) if the paper targets were shooting back at me ;)
Airsoft stuff would even work if all you're going for is the Cool Factor. They make some good copies!
Just my 2 cents....
