If its a mounter , go for the shoulder , knocks them down hard , bears go for the shoulder , moose seem to go down good when hit in the 45gal drum area , as for angles, deer facing you - low centre of chest ,deer backside to you ,shoot for the poop hole( has to be a mounter ).How about deer running flatout?

Looked around for sizes, could not find 45 gal :)
55 gallon steel drum
24 dia. x 34
61 dia. x 86
32 to 36
15 to 16

30 gallon plastic drum
20 dia. x 31 50 dia. x 79
14 to 17
7 to 9
But hey in N.B. to qualify for Moose hunting 18 in x 18 in target @ 40 meters, and only had to hit it 2 of 3 shots any where on the target , taken prone :dancingbanana:
No wonder SuperCub got his licence. :runaway:;)

I was watched a tv program on moose hunting in Finland or Sweden , one of those countries , to get a moose tag the hunters had to shoot at life size targets ,diferent ranges , also a moving moose target ,maybe they should have some kind of shooting test here. I know of some hunters who never go to the rifle range , they fire two shots when they get to the bush , they have four different kinds of amo in their rifle that was bought at garage sales, and then they wonder why the animals always run away wounded.

yes, had a fella come to a pit I was shooting rimfire in, just testing into a sand bank at 50 meters . He comes up , takes out a target a foot square. Places it at 25 meters, takes 2 shots with a 270 bolt gun, gets 'em 6 inches apart . ready to go hunting, just wanted to make sure the scope was still on, packs up and leaves. :D

I think we should use those hunters for the targets :D

The sad fact of the matter is, these 'two shot' experts you've made mention of are usually the one's the non hunting public see as examples of 'hunters'. The ones that wound and lose game, the ones that also show examples of taking not only unethical shots but also exhibit dangerous and unsafe shooting practices. Then the result is we all get painted with the same brush.
