How big is this guy?

ps good job by your daughter. I'd have done the same thing except i would've wet myself repeatedly afterwards.

Thanks for that. I think she did what she thought she had to do. According to "some" posters she should have run for the hills and called in air support.

8 or 9 year old, prime bull. will probably dress [no innards, no hide, no head] in the 650 - 700 lb area, so double that for live weight. Very nice bull. He would be fine prior to the rut, but needs a good month after it to sweeten up again. Eagleye.

That's a beautiful bull, I'm from the Cape Breton Highlands and spend a lot of time in the woods, saw a lot of nice moose but never came across one this big

Not the greatest pic, but this 40" bull taken in the Gaspé dressed out to 850 lbs. You must have some small mooses out there.

My father just happens to have a 54" mount hanging the entertainment room and it looks pretty darned similar. If that bull in your pictures dressed out to less than 950, I'd be surprised.

awwww how cute thats just a baby moose :D :D

Looks like good eats :D

I would guess about 550 dressed. FWIW he is an old bull (probably 12 or 14 years old). I have a bull tag for are 36 in Newfoundland and I would leave him. The meat would be too tough.

The only way to accurately age any member of the deer family is by tooth wear. Any other method is pure speculation after the first couple of years of their life...........FWIW. ;)

The Moose In CB were transplanted there from Alberta .... and the ones in NFLD are from NB.
They are not the same "subspecies" I'm told and thus the CB moose all things being equal will grow bigger.

Either Way the one Pictured is a Huge Animal.

IIRC, there were 6 original ones transplanted from NB at the turn of the century......now there's over 10,000.
Some serious inbreeding going on. :D
