Hello everyone,
Got a new to me T/C R55 and it WILL NOT feed rounds into the chamber. If you can see in the pics the nose of the bullet hits the bottom sharp square edge of the chamber. I didnt take a picture of the round but it has a round scrape with a raised lip of lead when it tryes to feed in. The mag is a little loose and if I hold it foreward and up it will almost shoot 10 rounds. Even tried Lapua ammo. Any ideas? besides breaking the rifle!!
Thanks

Looks like there is no feed ramp... im not familiar with the gun, but either the mag or mag guide should have a feed ramp to angle the bullet upwards into the chamber. In the pic it looks like the bullet just goes forward. Could be the mag catch is broke also since you said it's loose.

Do you only have the one magazine? If there is no feed ramp built into the barrel then the mag fitment and feed lips will be critical to proper feeding. I'd be looking into...

Dirt/damage that is preventing the mag from seating fully.

Burrs or damaged feed lips causing the rounds to dip down when being pushed from the mag.

Does the bolt have a recessed face for the rim of the cartridge to fit in? some firearms feed the fresh round up into this recess to be held in place by the extractor for alignment into the chamber (Rem 597). If there is a problem with the extractor or dirt buildup in the bolt face the rounds wont seat properly in place and miss feed, catching the edge of the chamber.

I have a tc r 55 and one of the mags never worked at all I had to file down the angle on the follower to get it working right. Works perfect now. Try your five round mag, does it work?

Thanks for replies, I think the bolt face is flat .. must look. And I dont have a 5 round mag with it. The mags just seem too loose in the gun, but even when I take out the slack by holding it up and foreward - no go. Dumb Question: what if I SLIGHTLY ease the bottem of the chamber hole where it catches?

I have done that before to aid feeding on an old JC Higgins .22, but it is a touchy job... Don't go too far. I used a rubber bodied polishing bit in a dremmel to do the deed. I would keep this as a last resort, the fact that the mags are so loose might be pointing to something wrong with the magwell/latch/mags...

It's not a cheap plinker, they are supposed to be quality built .22 and I would imagine that you wouldn't be having total feed problems unless something was off... Unfortunately I don't have any first hand experience with one...

I have the same problem with my R55, I tried several different mags but they all did the same thing. I built up the front of the follower with JB weld and put a little on the back of the mag to keep it tighter. It still jams occasionally but it is much better now.

Thanks regal and everyone. Was studying it last evening and it seems if I put a little material on the top front of the mags, this should #### them upwards. Also looked at how to raise the whole mag .015" or so but this is more complicated.
