Hi: I have a 2240 that I have just changed out the stock .140 transfer port for an enlarged one (.161),plus a modified valve, both items were from popular vendors....I also have an adjustable RVA that can adjust 18 turns in on it's 3/8 N.F. thread....Only getting around 430fps with 14.3 gr Crosman Dome pellets....not really much more than stock.
I also have an adjustable hammer,so thinking that extending the striker to make the hammer longer, would open the valve faster and close sooner, thus not wsting gas,but I extended it one full turn and nothing happened....loose/tight hammer springs...nothin!!
I want to keep the short barrel,so what else can I do to get 50-60 more fps and keep the short barrel? Thanks,Huck50

Check for leaks on firing. That's a big one. And don't forget even if you put a stock on your '2240' main tube gun, it is still recognized as a pistol. Any pistol shooting over 500 fps is going to be classified as restricted or prohibited. Same things you heard over at the caf.

Use lighter pellets if you need 495fps for whatever reason....the difference in performance 50fps will get you is pretty negligible.
