Hey guy's,

A co-worker has a Remmy 700 that has the superimposed camo covering the barrel, action and synthetic stock. It is worn through or peeling off in alot of areas. He'd like to remove it. Do we pull out the acetone bath and 220 grit sandpaper and jes give 'er? (J/K);)

He would like to get the whole gun down to the black finish which seems to be under the thrashed camo finish.

Thanks for your wisdom!

superimposed camo?
Some guys were using "bowflage"(not sure of spelling). It is a removeable paint. Sold, usually in package of 4 spray cans. Three are colored and the
fourth was a release agent to remove the paint.

you could bead blast the entire gun. Sounds like you are wanting to take her down to an even surface that would accept your new finish.

If you were going to say have it refinished in KG Gunkote it would need to be blasted anyways so would be part of the process in getting the job done.

Sandpaper would butcher your gun.

I think by superimposed you mean the camo that is a very thin film applied in a tank of water.
As for how to remove it..I have no suggestions.

Yeah, I was only kidding, hence the J/K :p

It is no home made job, but more like a "Advantage Camo" pattern in a very thin layer on the whole firearm. Not tape, not really powder coated either.
It looks just like those hardcore Turkey hunting shotties except that this one got dragged home behind the truck. We need to get it off the synthetic stock without damaging it if possible too.
