How cheap do you make 12 gauge target load?

There's no money to be saved making your own 12 ga. target loads. Unless you make your own shot (and get lead for cheap). Or bought your components in 1970.
28 ga. and .410 are a different story. Still, I reload a lot of 12 gauge and that's to create low pressure loads for black powder proofed guns. For my modern 12 ga. or 20 ga. guns I just buy commercial loads.

It's not worth doing unless you want something to do, or simply enjoy loading your own ammunition.
Having said that, if an ammunition shortage follows this pandemic, then it's a different ballgame. I keep enough supplies in hand to load a year's worth of target loads.

No hope of saving money on 12 gauge with shot at $60 a bag delivered, and powder at $35 a pound. At $60 the shot in a box of 1 1/8 ounce target loads is
$4.22.
