My goal is to make my cz 452 into a kind of trainer for my norinco m305. It seems pretty hard to find a usgi synthetic right now so the woods boyd stock might be my best shot.

So does anybody know how close a wood boyds stock is to the usgi synthetic? I mean in terms of palm swell, forend, and fit. Just trying to get a training gun that will shoulder somewhat the same

Oh man I gotta chime in here. I cannot miss this conversation.

Back in 1988 I chopped up a USGI glass stock for a BRNO no 4 Ha ha ha ha barreled receiver.
I wanted a sort of trainer. And it kinda worked out but looked like a Frankenstein gunthe USGI stock is really thick and the bolt handle of the CZ or Brno just sticks out enough to grab with fingers. So you gotta cut a slot through that right side. :)

Then I could not secure a way to suspend the barreled action inside except for the two prominent edges of the USGI glass stock. The round shaped receiver Hung inside the glass stock resting on the sides. So that worked kinda okay.

I then focused on the bottom of the receiver and with a few layers of fiberglass cloth and resin , built a lower bridge using PAM as a release agent for the stamped steel trigger guard and receiver screws to interface with the stock under belly. It worked but it was ugly. Or fugly I should say.

That combination shot really well. I even trained with that fugly rifle at the 200 hrs range in Sharon Gun Club.
Like shooting at 600 yards my coach told me.

Cheers, Barney
