Where I hunt I can only put my camper in one spot. Down the road, about 6 to 7 hundred yards, there is a good spot to hunt deer. Is my camper too close??? Thanks

I always laugh at the fact that every one in huntcamp heads out in to the bush only to come back at night and see massive tracks going right by the cabin.

You just never know!!

Can't say its the same for deer, but both of the last two moose I've taken were within 150 yards and 30 yards of camp, respectively. :)

I have a buddy who travels up near St.Lazare,Mb. every year. They pull the trailer up 2 days before the Monday opener.Thier stands are approx. 50-500 yards away, and they are always harvesting some nice deer.I moved my trailer up on my property at the beginning of August I will probably be building a stand about 30 yards away (my dad is getting up in years). So I think that is a decent location for your trailer.

When my dad was getting into his 80's, I prepared a ground blind for him that was about 150 yards from my back porch, in a small clearing in the heavy cedar brush next to my house. It was all he could do to reach it, and his first year (of two) sitting there, he took a nice buck with one perfect 40-yard shot, listening to my dogs barking, my neighbours (100 yards in the opposite direction) yelling at their dogs, a dirt-bike in the background...you get the picture.

Farm country deer have seen and heard it all and are used to it.

More than once I've walked back to the car or truck to find a deer standing beside it. Are they attracted to new objects? They certainly don't seem repelled by stationary ones.

As long as you get up in time. A few of my buddies walked past this camper opening day of deer season, and shot some deer in a nearby field. When they dragged the deer past the camper they had a good laugh because the people inside were still sleeping!

Last year we a a deer walk up to with-in 75 ft of our camp to feed on some apples in a box amongs the cars in the driveway!
That's pretty impressive when you consider how loud some of the snore-rs in the camp are

A cpuple years before that we had a cow moose walk up & lick the fenders of an atv while one of the guys was sitting 50yds away with only a bull tag!
