I noticed after firing 3 rounds of this ammo out of my tikka 300wsm that the brass was fractured around the neck. Some of these showed multiple fracture lines. I keep all the brass regularly if I ever decide to do reloading.f:P: I havent fired any more of this ammo since it seemed dangerous. So my question is keep firing away or try and return it ? Im leaning towards not firing it. I can upload pictures later upon request.

I was just at WSS today and the counter guy was pushing this gun/caliber combo with a Burris scope for 999.00. Interesting to see this on the same day I researched this combo.

Pictures please

I haven't had any problems with any other ammo just this Winchester power max bonded super x.

When firing it sounded louder than my .338lm which has a muzzle break. Thoughts?

I shot 3 boxes of that out of my savage weather warrior 300wsm last weekend and had no problems with it.

That is just some of the new ####ty Winchester brass.

The drop in quality in Winchester components the last few years is really disappointing.

Weird what the heck. Well upon further inspection the unfired rounds look like the brass is crap. The brass isn't in the greatest of shape. I notice that the brass already has small fractures. So I guess careful with Winchester power max. So what do I do with my 200$ worth of this power max?

It's not dangerous but it makes the brass unsuitable for reloading. Pretty sad how low winchester's qc seems to be lately. Most shops refuse returns on ammo but that is an obvious manufacturer defect. Contact Winchester if you have any issues.

Contact Winchester immediately and don't shot the other cartridges
Contact Winchester and send them pictures of the fractured cases.
Tell them that they make 338 Lapua Magnum level of muzzle blast and that you're scared that they might damage the gun or even injure someone.
That will get their attention and you'll get safe ammo from Winchester!

Don't fool around with faulty ammo (remember that 300 WSM runs at 63 000 PSI under normal conditions).

Just for safety's sake, have a smith check your chamber and make sure there's no damages. Then get ahold of Winchester. Gaurenteed the first thing they will ask about is the gun itself, so if you rule that out, then the ball's in their court.

I know it's the brass, upon further inspection of the brass that is unfired you can see what may look like scrapes but I recognize a crack when I see one. Trick is I had to look to find them.

Yeah I wonder if there is damage to the gun.

I'm not sure how free ammo would work I'm sure the brass on all of their 300 wsm is the same at least with this power max stuff. I'll give them a shout anyways.
