I bought a 1911 with a wilson combat drop in beavertail. My grip for maximum control would be to hold the pistol as low as I can with my thumb riding the top of the safety. In this position the grip safety does not disengage. How do I disable the grip safety. Please no lectures on why I would want to do that. The 1911 has a thumb safety and a half #### safety. And JMB never intended it for it to have a grip safety that was requested by the Army.
So far I've wedge a toothpick between the mainspring housing and the grip safety. It's a red green special but I don't think it will hold up to repeated recoil.
