hi everyone im new to this whole gun thing and im having alot of fun. i have already bought a fair amount of guns and i am trying to set one up for deer hunting and plinking out to 800 yards. i was told by a friend to buy a gun that uses a 6.5*55 sweedish so i bought a tikka t3 varmint in stainless.another friend sold me his never mounted nightforce 3.5-15*56 varmint scope to put on it.the scope has a clearer view than any of my others but i dont understand how i am suppsed to accuratly see what im aiming at way out there. also i was told to try different loads to see what my gun likes. how does this work.i am useing berger vld bullets 140gr with imr 4064 powder. thank you for reading my long winded post.

i might be wrong but the only way i know is to try different loads and see what works best for you. i have a savage 308 and have tryed several different loads... it seems to like 180 grain soft point the best. every gun will be different even if two guns are excatly the same, they might and probaly will like different loads.

Arronn a friend of mine bought a new a Tika varmint a couple years ago the first time he shot it 3 bullets at 100 one hole, went to 300 3 shots 1" amazing gun, He was using same load he used in his Military rifle 6.5x55 swiss.
4064 and 142 gr siera MatchKings, don't remember amount of powder, I would think you will just do fine with powder you have and those Bergers
Good luck

so you're looking for a short-cut for a lifetime of tinkering?- i've got 6 308's- 4 of which are m14s- and each one of them "requires" a different load - change a component, start all over again- the only" SHORTCUT" i could siggest is to start with a match load or a proven load for your purpose, and tinker with it slightly from there- a grain or 2 less or more powder, slightly differnt bullet, etc- and keep a log of your groups- if they start to open up,go back
