The application form can be found on the CFC's web site. Your best bet is to be the owner to a company that does work in remote areas. You will need to explain why you must carry a handgun for protection rather than a long gun. It cannot be for purposes of redundancy, or convenience. You must also send proof of proficiency, which means that the range officer of the club you shoot at will have to write a letter, identifying himself and attesting to the fact that he has seen you shoot, and that in his opinion you can shoot well and handle the gun safely.
