The days have long past since I went out coyote hunting with my cheap and light savage rifle and a mouth call in my pocket. As I have evolved into a shooter and hunter I find myself with more and more equipment. A varying array of things. Some I can leave in the truck, like extra batteries and water. Some things that I would prefer not to leave behind. Good slings, packs and carabiner clips make my life easier. I mostly hunt coyotes and deer, so short walks in from the truck and sit. What I have in the truck is a long list of recovery and survival type items depending on the cell reception/distance from people I am going.

Currently, I pack a Molle back pack, ON the pack is an IFAK and small folding stool/or a cushion (carabiners yay!). IN the pack are things like the call and remote, extra batteries, bottle of water, a snack, fixed blade knife, 2 Extra loaded mags, range finder.

Rifle (shes a heavy brute at 14lbs id say) held to me by a Vickers combat sling that tightens it up nice to carry though.
Tripod (left hand, have been trying to find a slick way to tie/attach this to my pack)

Long story short, aside from a lighter rifle and ditch the tripod I feel like I don't go to crazy. I do carry that rifle/tripod combo because on a calm wind day I'm usually minute of coyote out to 700 yards(farthest shot so far 551 yards).

What do you guys run with? Think Im missing anything? Think I have too much ? Lets hear it, Especially anything that made your life easier!

I’ve gone to a molle belt/suspender set up, carry’s two mags, sm ifak, rangefinder, binos, gps, med pouch with ear pro, gloves and thin balaclava. Then depending on how far from the quad or truck I’m going to be I either carry a small shoulder bag with a field dressing kit and some snacks/water or a bigger pack with a tarp and game bags and extra food/water if I have to quarter and pack an animal out. Been trying to keep it minimal the last few years, add whatever shotgun or rifle I’m using. Vickers sling on them all, if I’m sitting and waiting a lot I add a small piece of foam to sit on.

If I’m not far from the truck I grab my belt and that’s it.

Get a horse...50 years ago successfull hunters carried a fraction of what you do

If I could afford a horse!

We are super similar. I have found for a couple spots the foam pad is fine, but if im in tall brush sometimes it becomes an issue. Also when a yote pops up behind/beside me, its a little easier to swing around the bipod off of the stool then from my butt! lol
GPS is a good idea though.

I run different set ups. For coyote hunting I have 4 different rigs I use for coyotes
Apls predator pack w built in seat, back rest
Red head turkey vest with built in stadium seat
Gunrunner ll pack by eblerstock
And a stadium seat with zippers on sides that create a pouch.
For big game I generally carry a meat hauling capable pack ( if I'm elk or moose hunting or deer hunting aways from the truck)
Or just a bino bag with small fanny if I'm running super light.

Ive got two setups for coyotes:

Always have my badlands bino harness with an extra pocket on each side with range finder, wind check and kestrel. In the bag/seat pouch: Drag, extra box of ammo and portable battery charger.

heavy set up is a gunrunner from eberlestock with a kirafu gun bearer sling. Shotgun goes in the pack and rifle in the kirafu. Chair in the pack and luckyduck in my hand

light setup is just the lucky duck predator seat with the call in its pocket and rifle on my shoulder.

For me it’s a quad with a backpack lashed to the front rack. In the bush I carry as little as possible. Rifle, a few extra rounds, a radio, a compass or small GPS and some water. If I’m lucky enough to have time to set up for a long shot I use some sticks or my toque on a log or rock for a rest. After the shot, I tag and gut the animal and then hike back to the quad and drive in as close as I can to finish the job. For me, less is more. If I don’t NEED it, I leave it at home.

dont find the quad makes everything disappear?

Back in the day (before my time) rich people had cars and poor people had horses. Other way round now.
I carry a rifle, handful of rounds, cell phone, snack, a little water. Used to carry GPS but the phone has that now. Rope and a knife.
Be a while before I hunt again - Day 4 today post-hip-replacement...

If I'm not going in too far - belt knife, belt ammo pouch, water bottle, compass, firestarter, binos and sometimes a seat cushion.

For longer treks i have a daypack and carry some food, small backpacker stove for making ramen or coffee. Caller fits in the daypack.

I use a backpack with a water bladder and "fanny pack" (it's manly because it's camo and has knives and ammo in it). Pretty much everything I need can be kept in them. Knives, game bags, fire making, warm gear, extra ammo, snacks, etc. I don't think I'd need any extra room unless I was going to stay the night. If I am bringing a chair and/or blind I will strap my gun, chair, and blind over my shoulder.

Being 76 years old
and too darn fat.
With problems with both my achilles tendons.
I let my suzuki king quad 400 carry everything.
If i break down i'm good for 3 days,
i have everything. Food, water, clothes. Rain suit, ammo. Spare battery
you name it i got it. Experience has taught me to [be prepared.

Speedy recovery!

Butt pack... everything i need for a day... water, food tools and emergancy supplies.

I used to run a tac vest/web belt... but it just wears on you... makes it harder to be quite in the bush.

I was going to say!

Tac vest and and a belt, just why?! I dont know what for regular hunting I would even put on a vest/belt rig.

Stove shelter, 3 meals, binoculars, LRF, ammo, water, rain jacket/ extra warm layer, dry socks, extra gloves, gutting kit, ... i used to hike in quite a ways on day trips from camp. The furthest one i did was about 8km each way looking for sheep.
Had to be prepaired to spend the night.

After using everything from fannys, sling bags and backpacks from pretty much cheap chicom to USA made stuff, I shelved everything and dropped the coin on a chest rig from Hill People Gear. It holds anything and everything I'd need and when fitted proper, you hardly know it's there.
