How do you clean out your 223 cases?

I think I'll try some finer media. I tried SS pins and they got stuck in almost every flash hole. Maybe in a tumbler but not in a vibrator. I don't bother to wash brass, just vibrate it for a while to get it relatively clean.

Walnut (sand) blasting media!

I bought a big bag of it at Princess Auto.
It doesn't clean as aggressively as Lyman Tuffnut and is VERY dusty!
I suspect the dust actually cushions it and reduces its effectiveness.
Several lifetime's supply in that bag...

If you're using corncob it sounds to me like moisture got in your media somehow or even humidity. It will make the media sticky and clump/cake together inside of casings.

put a couple of dryer sheets in it will cut your dust down.

After I've tumbled 223 brass, I throw it into an old t-shirt with the neck and sleeves sewed shut. I hold it closed and give it a good shaking, this does a pretty good job of loosening and emptying the cases of media. I then dump it into a spagetti strainer and check each case for stuck media in the flash hole, using a dental pick to poke any out. Only about 2-3 in 10 cases need poking. I'm not a high volume reloader, I do batches of 50-100 at a time.

Got the CV2000 - 40 years ago. Strong unit. You will never wear it out the CV500 either.

The RCBS unit has a cover so that you don't have media flying everywhere.

Use a rotary spinner to remove media

Faster than using a sieve, media doesn't spill out all over. I use this for removing dry media from my vibratory tumbler and the SS pins from my wet tumbler. The Dillon unit is nice but I think it's costly overkill. I got one from Berry's manufacturing. Been using it for years with no issues. If it breaks they have a lifetime warranty.
