This is samples of two different batches that I did last summer. Top one was with dawn soap and lemishine and bottom with armour all wash/wax and lemishine. The top ones have water spots and stains on them and bottom ones don't. Also I used less lemishine on the bottom ones and they look the same as they did last year. Both were in tumbler for 2 hours.

What amounts of Armour all do you use in what size tumbler etc

Aside from the aesthetics of shinier brass is there any functional differences? Is shinier easier to size? seat bullets??

As with anything, if you get two highly polished surfaces together there is a reduction in friction. Having said that, it is most important to have clean brass. Shiny just comes with an added bonus

That tumbler I have holds just over 8 liters filled to the very top. It is 7"X16". I never paid attention to how much water goes in when I have cases and pins in but its about an ounce of Armour All. I was putting about the same of lemishine and it turned the brass yellow. I'm about to do a bunch in a week or two and am going to try using a teaspoon and see what happens.

I have heard others swear that sizing straight wall brass is much more smoother using a wash/wax. I did notice a difference between using Dawn dish soap and Armour All. How much? Well I guess that's debatable but I noticed a difference. The only reason I used Armour All was the guy that told me to use it got it on sale at the time and so did I. I think pretty much any would work.

Will try the wash/wax next time the 44Mag goes in the wash. On my 5 stage LNL it can take some effort when all the stages are full.

Thanks let me know how that turns out (teaspoon)

I feel kinda like a filthy dude...

I don't actually clean/polish my brass yet. New to the hobby, and can't justify the expense and time for outcomes. I do have brushes for internal cleaning (neck), and one batch of brass was actually dirty when it came in, but I just shook it with mild dish detergent, and rinsed in hot water.

One day I can add the step, but for now can't justify it.

^^^ For years a friend of mine never ever cleaned his brass, and other than dark dingy colored cases it worked fine for him, This fella has most likely reloaded more brass in his life than a few of us put together in our lives.

Next time I clean brass I give the washn wax product a try, it makes sense that it will work better when in the press.

Have you tried tumbling for less time? eight hours seems like a long time.

"Set it and forget it" I don't really time my cleaning. I start it and go do other stuff. Does no harm to the brass unlike SS pins would do if forgotten about. Usually ends up being 6-8 hours for me to remember that I have brass on the go.
