How do you clean your trigger group?

I just gave my new used Remington 1100 a good thorough cleaning. The only area that gave me issues was the trigger group. I got it as best I could with q-tips and Ballistol but it still isn't as clean as I would like. Is there any way to get it looking good as new without spraying it with brake cleaner?

I flush out with lighter fluid.

Remove trigger group from the 870/1100.
place strainer in sink.
boil kettle of water.
place trigger group in strainer.
wet trigger group with warm or hot tap water.
scrub trigger group with old tooth brush.
add favorite dish soap to tooth brush and scrub again.
when kettle has boiled pour over trigger group.
remove hot trigger group from strainer and place on a towel to dry or in the dish rack at edge of sink.
the trigger group will air dry in short order.
lubricate trigger group with G-96 or other choices.
re-install trigger group and you are good to go.

I use a product called Flush Off. It is a citrus based cleaner in an arosol can. Does not contain petroleum or solvent by-products. Use it on any part of the firearm with no fear of damage. Made by Lawson Products and I buy it at my local auto parts store.

it is made for places you can't reach dries clear degreases and blows out gunk
then retreat with regular G96 or whatever as needed and wipe down works very well

I have always used Remington action cleaner and a nylon brush. Then a coat of light syn gun oil

I saturate them with wd40, which displaces any moisture, then blow them out with compressed air. Finally I oil with water-soluble ballistol. Ymmv.

Put some varasol in a plastic container big enough to submerge the trigger group in. Use a long haired auto type brush, scrub it good, rinse and blow dry with pressurized air. If you have access to an auto shop with one of those varasol parts cleaning sink stations even better. Spray it with Rem Oil and wipe off any excess and you are good to go.

When cleaning trigger groups I always like to just disassemble them so I know it's clean. As long as you take watch what goes where it's pretty simple and fast

No need to do anything more complicated than that in my books.

I spray with Rem Action Cleaner and then scrub and dry, then a light coat of Rem Oil... never had problems, even on December diver hunts.

I take the trigger group out, and soak it in a pan of varsol, then scrub it with an old toothbrush. Dry & oil it and its ready to go again.

Same here. Dries almost instantly. Then spray it with your favorite gun oil, wipe off the access and you are done.

I only do it if I drop my 870 in the chuck and then I remove it, dry it, blast it with carb cleaner, brush it with a toothbrush, repeat, oil and reinstall.

Really though, You shouldn't have to do it unless something catastrophic happens like dropping it in salt water or soupy mud.
