How do you explain shooting coyotes?

No that makes you a better shot !It's good to practice................Harold

Absolutely!!!
40 years ago if we saw 2 or 3 a year, it was a lot. Now we see them 2 or 3 times a week. It is off season target practice. They have completely eliminated the red fox in our area. We haven't seen a fox in 20 plus years.
I like seeing coyotes. Especially through the scope.:D

Just getting into the Coyote hunting this year.

Approached a local cattle farmer, my first property asking for permission, introduced myself and asked if I could coyote hunt on his property. He looked me up and down then smiled, extended his hand and said "absolutely".

Apparently yotes hurt the bottom line. He has lost 16 calves in 4 years so far to yotes alone. Already lost 2 this year.

I managed to get 2 yotes for him last week and received many thanks. Both at 350 yards on a calm morning while prone 1/2 hour apart. I had one in my sights this morning at about 450 yards but was unsure of the exact range and the wind wasn't favorable. Had to pass but will get that one soon too.

My little guy in sr. Kindergarten had to pick an animal for a presentation last week He wanted to pick coyotes. I printed up about 6 pages of 8x11 pictures of yotes and we wrote on the back a bunch of information about the coyote life and habitat for him to read. Also that they are not a favorite to a lot of farmers because they take sheep calves and lambs. His school is rural and a lot of kids are from farms.

Even my 3.5 year old girl gets it. When leaving last night for a little coyote hunt she ask me why I hunt them. I asked her why do you think. She responded "because they kill baby cows and sheep?". I said that's right. She got to hear the kindergarten presentation too.

If a pre schooler can get it, it shows the mental ability of a lot of tree huggers doesn't it.

And its fun to outsmart a smart predator too.

Since I despise them so much, If I did shoot one, what do I do with it? Dig a hole?

Few days ago, broad daylight, maybe around 1 in the afternoon, A fairly large coyote walked across our field, stopped right in the center, and turned and went toward a fairly busy trail behind our house.. I wasn't home at the time, if I was, he'd probably be hanging from the porch..
