how do you get a prohibited classification on your PAL?

How about this... Lobby our government to repeal C-68 and C-17.. you can do this easily by supporting a lobby group like the NFA... as they are actively working to repeal these draconian laws... the more money they get the better :)

Sure beats crying over the moronic rules that have imposed on us by a long gone and forgotten regime... and without constant pressure our existing/next government will surely just leave all these BS laws as is...

I hear you. I was just trying to raise the point of how rediculous the law is. No 12(6) is newer than (15yrs?) old... so if you think of it as a car or some other item we might purchase, there is a fine line between a nice collectable, and an old junker. I am far more impressed by modern pistols than I am of most of the 12(6)'s I have seen. Its just my taste in pistols though.

I didn't see anyone mention for him to start a movie rental company or a museum? Start a movie rental company and you can get 12 everything plus the transport permit to discharge full auto and converted auto at approved ranges (military). You must actually start the company though, not just "say you will". This is what prohibits most from taking that route. It is quite hard to find the documents for this.
 
I think they have clamped down on the movie rental idea now.
IIRC, somebody in BC played fast and loose with the rules and f---ed it up for others.

Also, don't movie guns have to be blank firing ONLY?
 
And at that, the OP asked about a prohibited classification on a PAL, not about a business licence.
