How do you get the aftermarket surplus wood handgaurd to stay in place on cz 858

I have the surplus wood stock from Wolverine and the top handgaurd is all sloppy and moving side to side when you touch it. The little "half ring" with the little detent that is supposed to keep the wood and metal pieces snug and together doesnt fit in between on the new wood and thats why it is all sloppy jalopy. What do you guys that have the new wood do to keep it from shifting? Is there a different piece that i can get? Please let me know whatever ideas that you might have.

Do you mean you have installed the new handguard without the tab? Could you open the handguard up a little to make it fit inside?

Yes. I dont know if the tab will fit if i carve out some wood. I was wondering if anyone else had and if so how the heck you did it?
