How do you guys measure your powder?

My Lyman 1200 DPS went insane the other day and refused to calibrate itself. I use it for my rifle loads and a Lee Progressive with autodisk for my handgun loads. Right now I'm making do with a cheapo Lee powder measure and a digital scale. Any thoughts on a RCBS Chargemaster or Hornady LNL or maybe I should just buy a better powder measure. Frankford Arsenal for example. What works for you guys?

I've had a cm for about 8 years or so sil treating me well. Also a recent buy 1200 I run on a power backup unit that's been working good so far... bought used fingers crossed. Rcbs uniflow set up for some regular loads, an Autodisk I do voodoo to keep working and dippers I rarely use.

Cheapo Lee PPM for 25 years. Tried a bigger cast iron Frankford a few years ago and it wouldn't throw as consistent.

Started with a little Franklin digital scale. A couple of years ago I bought a used RCBS 505 beam scale that just sat on my shelf. The digital scale started acting up so I tossed it and grabbed the 505. What a revelation! When I dial that sucker in I load way faster and with more confidence.

That said, Chargemaster or something similar is probably next in line.

FX120 w/auto throw/ auto trickle is by far the fastest method, it’s damn accurate too!
Still got my 5-0-5 in a drawer with a manual trickler, if ever technology should fail

RCBS thower mostly and a balance beam. Just for ####z and giggles I loaded a bunch of 7.62x54r with a lee powder scoop, shot surprisingly well. Would not use for my hunting ammo

I throw with an RCBS thrower and trickle up on a couple of digitals. Haven’t had the best luck with auto trickers. Might try an intellidropper.

What I've found with auto tricklers, or any thrower for that matter, is the powder used has an enormous effect on the consistancy of the drop.

I use the Redding 10X Competition for Pistol, It meters every powder I have tried bang on 99% of the time. I have an RCBS 1500 Digital Scale and a Gempro Digital as well that I switch between. I cant say enough about the accuracy of the Redding Competition Powder Throws. I used a Harrell's Shutzen as well for a while but it was honestly not quite as repeatable as the 10x

I use Win231, VV N320 and N340 for 45acp depending on bullet weight. I tend to load my 230gr @ or close to max to get 850fps out of a USP Tactical.

For 9mm I use VV N340 or VV N350 for 115gr and 124gr and N320 @ Max (3.9gr gets me 990fps) for 147gr for the P30L

For the 10mm I am getting I will probably use Longshot for the Hot loads. But I have not loaded for 10mm yet but will start as soon as the Pistol arrives.

For Rifle I use a Redding Competition as well I think it is the PR-50 it is also 99% accurate with the powders I use including "Stick" powders. From what the manual says it is the most accurate @ 30grains of powder. Right now I am only loading 62gr and 77gr .223 for 2 rifles so depending on powder its is 23-27gr's. I am getting a new 308 rifle soon that I will work a few loads up for, I am hoping that it works as accurately towards the maximum that the measure can throw.

Honestly I considered getting the electronic dispensers like the Chargemaster but I dont see it being any faster than my current setup or anymore accurate, since switching my rifle measure from RCBS over to the Redding I see a marked improvement on round to round consistency and if I was not so compulsive in checking the weights, I could get away with every 20th round and not see a problem. If you see a used Redding BenchRest or Percision Rifle on the EE for sale I would not hesitate to snatch it up, they are excellent measures.
