How do you guys mod your atlas bipods for preload?

Fixed it. A piece of outdoor carpet is all I needed. It simulated solid ground on my prone bench and I have no hop now. I'll likely get some claw feet if I can find some talon type ones so I can have a bigger foot print for shooting off of snow/ice.

when in the the up position, the legs can rattle and make noise as they don't have the tight springs holding them snug in place like a Harris

Agree 100%. Unacceptable operation for a bipod that costs what an Atlas does. The addition of a few ball bearings in each leg would have made for smooth and silent extension/retraction. Instead you get rattle-tastic outer legs that gall the inner legs every time you slide them.

Its alright Jay. Although my post was a little stab at comedy(failed perhaps) it is a viable solution. Since Mr. 6MT and his 13,347 posts of wisdom have yet to contribute anything whatsoever to this subject, one must assume that he is only here to start an argument. Its not the first time. OP...Although I only have 900 posts of wisdom, 7.5 years in the in the infantry, 4+ years as a sniper and tried every tactical Bipod that exists I will tell you this:
The LRA is the most stable, heaviest duty, and most versatile bipod I've ever used. Yes it costs a fortune, but so did the glass and rifle you put that Atlas on. We tested the Atlas and not one single sniper liked it. It collapses and turns under preload and is tippy and cumbersome to use. We rated the Harris swivel-pod ahead of it. Anything that needs tape to stabilize is not going to have a place on my rifle. So allow me to re-word what I originally stated. Sell the Atlas, buy LRA and never worry about buying another bipod ever again. Hope this helps!

Which LRA bipod do you recommend for field shooting? Light Tactical 7"-10.5"? Could use it on my Steyr SSg PII, with the hand stop rail on bottomof forum? Where can you buy one in Canada? Thanks!

You could solve the need for preloading by simply getting behind the gun more lol. But why treat the cause if you can put a bandaid on the symptom. ;)

This, because sooner or later the soil will be too wet, too grassy, too sandy, too hard, too soft or the office desk has one of those friggin plexiglass/glass overlays.............
