How do you hold your Tavor? *VIDEO*

Interesting video and post.

Number 1 when I owned it.

I used a similar grip and stance to how I shoot an AR, which is an isosceles stance, although I did not put my thumb over the top with the Tavor I just pointed it forward. I found a thumb over grip did not work or make sense for me with the Tavor given the bulkiness and the position of the charging handle.

I found with the weight of the Tavor being far back and against your body I could keep the weapon more steady while standing when I was taking longer range shots even in the isosceles stance, versus an AR or none bullpup rifle. That is one of the things I for sure miss about my old Tavor.

I guess I use a kind of lazy number 5. I dont really line my forearm right up on the angled part but other than that im pretty similar. My Left hand grips the forward grip, palm up pulling back so my wrist fits snugly against the front of the angled part, elbows tucked in,butt tucked into shoulder.Never really thought about it much. It just kinda shouldered itself that way when I first picked her up. Another good video man. Ill have to test out the "Authentic" Israeli grip next time I'm out.

TV, great vid. Try the different holding positions with you eyes closed, if you have the time and can expend the effort try the different holding positions with your eyes closed while walking through an obstacle course. What you will notice with the Israeli hold is your body's proprioception capabilites remain almost as keen as if you are not holding a rifle, not so with the other holds. This difference allows your body, in tense situations to react much more quickly. its a HUGE difference, although it seems so subtle. for guys using these in battle it can be the difference between life and death.

I already tried dude in another Tavor thread and no takers.

Is sooooooooo very tempting but I have money tied up elsewhere.

Unless your open to trades?

perhaps the wife?

Age 32, 5' tall, 38J hooters, 135 LBS ( 20 LBS of its in her chest ),blonde hair, blue eyes, all her teeth, plenty of mileage left to go, cooks, cleans, shoots, never says no. No aftermarket upgraded upgrades.

Very informative video, not at all a shameless self promotion, an outdoor rifle fantasy with a camera instead of a mirror, nor a sticky window looking into the special love between a man and a gun. Well done! I guess with all that snow, you don't have to shoot at rattlers that lunge at you, but I still understand why the Israeli stance seems too stiff. ;)

Interestingly I always thought the "traditional Russian" stance was the opposite... I was told they shoot square to the target and that's why eastern block rifles have such a short length of pull.

Just doing a quick google image search for "IDF, Tavor", I don't find any pictures of anyone holding the rifle using that stance. I haven't had mine out to try since seeing the video, but it looks awkward.

Just following what IWI reccomends:

Of course, they also don't recommend left handed transitions.
