I have a chance to buy 2 spam cans of 7.62x39 for $150 but the guy who`s selling it can`t remember if it corrosive or not . what should I look for on the cans that will tell me what I`m buying ?

That's easy, if it's 7.62 x 39 it's corrosive.

Ok, at this price I`ll just treat it as corrosive and do the full cleaning process for that type of ammo. I was more curious as to whether there was a logo or other marking associated with the type .

If its in a spam can it's surplus... If it's surplus it's corrosive, despite the claims of some retailers...

Commercial will be in boxes. As stated above, $150 is a deal, even for corrosive. Shoot, clean, repeat!!

Excellent price. Just get it. Just out of curiosity how many rounds in total and what is the country of origin? If it's a spam can then it is corrosive. Just clean the rifle after every shooting session and it will be a happy rifle. If you clean it more often it also helps you become more familiar with your rifle and makes you more efficient at disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling it. Happy shooting!

Most if not all of milsurp are corrosive unless clearly labelled and with feedback from other shooters that they are non-corrosive (i.e. 5.56 spam can deal).

StrelokRussia , these cans total 1440 rds and I going treat them as corrosive , the guy bought the ammo a while ago and forgot about and found it recently and no longer has use for it so I have now bought it .

for $150 don't worry about it, buy it, shoot it and clean it!!!
you should clean your rifle exactly the same way regardless of the ammo you're using.
that's cheap for 2 cans of fun!!!

Emm no, corrosive means soaking in hot water to get all those salts out, you certainly don't need to do that with non corrosive.

Pretty sure he means always clean like it's corrosive, even if it's not. Because you never know when you might get a nasty surprise!

It's just common sense with these guns - it's easy enough to do it right, so why take the risk??

Save money and don't bother with the non corrosive hype. Different in your case though and just wash your rifle anyway
True...
Only if you have a friend with a van who has all the tools to take out your stuck case.
Speaking about that don't you have some parts of my heat gun still ;)

I don't take the risk, that's why I buy strictly MFS or Barnaul ammo.
