slide release .....
In the end, it is a matter of personal preference and training. Muscle memory will dictate what you do in the heat of the moment.
On my AR's, I use the BAD lever. Not one of your options. On all others, pull back on the slide and let er go.
tap the magazine from the bottom, pushing it fully into mag well.
rack the slide
ready
There is a Larry Vickers video where he times the difference between using the slide stop and 'sling shotting' the slide. For HIM, it was quicker to sling shot.
I do either, whatever seems right at the moment, but most often use the slide stop. In the 'Wild Bunch' event in CAS where you shoot to lock back, I always use the slide stop.
Doing a reload on the move, it is more convenient for me to use the slide stop.

Wow! I am finding myself bewildered that this is such a big issue. But then again the only competitive shooting I've done was with a Steyr-Hahn; clips and slide release are the only option, oh and the cartridge fountain to clear it, lol.
Why is it an issue ( other than the OP's experience with Mr Anal Retentive of course ) ?
The HK sfp9 has the tiniest slide stop I've ever seen on a gun. If it stuck out another 1/8" it would be perfect, as it is, it is very nearly flush and very difficult to release
